New Business Item 1:

Director of Administration Venita Terry said 344 vacant police positions. There are 144 employees on active FLMAs and 37 are positive for COVID-19.

The overtime budget is at $8.8 million, right now they are $2 million over that budget

A question is being raised about last year's overtime rates.

Terry said rates are in line with last year, which was $3.3 million over budget

Is requesting approval of an interlocal funding agreement between the Charter County of Wayne and Macomb County in the amount of $635,540 to allow for reimbursement under the 2021 Homeland Security Grant Program

Director of Homeland Security Daryl Lundy is briefing the committee on the report. Chairwoman Clark-Coleman wants to know why funding goes through Macomb County

Lundy said Macomb County is one of 7 fiduciaries that took responsible for managing the monies for this project - this was decided years ago

Commissioner Raymond E. Basham is talking about a years-old system used to clean the waterways along Wayne County downriver. He is proposing collaboration between the two bodies and is asking for support form Homeland Security

The Wayne County Commission and its employees are the legislative branch of county government. The chief role of the commission is to adopt a budget and enact ordinances. The commission also approves contracts, appointments and rules. The money is spent and ordinances are enforced through the administrative branch. The $1.5 billion budget runs the county operations that serve the more than 1.8 million people living in Wayne County.
